Summer of Sport

With so many big sporting events this year, it's set to be a summer of sports!

Summer is always a huge season for sport and physical activity and this year promises to be even bigger and better! In celebration, why not encourage your budding sporting superstars to get involved, develop their team-working skills and build their confidence.

Below are just a few activities you can set up to get children involved and ready for the exciting summer ahead:

1. Obstacle courses

Obstacle courses are a great way to encourage physical activity as not only will they be taking part in the course but they can build and create them to their liking – changing them as much as they want. Introducing teams is an easy way to encourage team-work and build on their gross motor skills. Try creating your own courses or take a look at our set here to get you started.

2. Parachute games

There are many games you can set up with the parachute resource pack, but the most popular is the ball roll. Place a few balls on top of the parachute and encourage children to try and get them through the centre hole of the parachute. For another quick activity, roll a ball around the outside of the parachute trying not to drop on the floor or let it go through the middle.

3. Egg and spoon race

The classic egg and spoon race! Get children to balance the egg on the spoon and race from one marker to another without dropping the egg. Our plastic eggs are perfect for children as there is no need to worry about cracking the eggs!

4. Bean bag toss

Use a hoop as the target and get children to stand at a distance and try and throw the bean bags into the hoop. Bring the hoop closer to make it easier or move it further away to add another level of difficulty to the game.

Decorate your setting

Get the little ones involved and ready for a summer filled with sports by using our very own flags of the world bunting or create your own with our handy template that you can easily cut out and display around your setting!

Top Tip: Transform each individual flag using coloured pens or paints to really make them stand out! Then string each flag together to create your sports themed bunting and hang around the room – the perfect thing about bunting is that you can easily store it away and reuse when needed.
