It’s that time of year again, shoes are tied and little feet are ready for an adventure. Walk to School Week is here, with lots going on between 19-23 May 2025!
At Eduzone, we love turning everyday moments into learning opportunities, what better way to get children excited to walk than by turning a simple nursery run into a mini expedition.
Whether you’re only around the corner from your nursery or have a longer walk ahead of you, there are so many ways to get little ones learning through curiosity and observation along the way; plus getting them up and moving promotes healthy walking habits!
To help turn your school run into a mini learning journey, get little minds (and legs) moving:
- Spot the red cars! How many can you count on your way?
- Did you cross the road? Chat about road safety. Who pressed the button at the crossing? Did the green man flash?
- Step It Out! Count how many steps it takes to get to school. Is it the same every day? Could you hop one day instead?
-
Rainbow Hunt – Can you find something in every colour of the rainbow? Red ladybugs, green leaves, blue flowers.
- Nature Explorer – Can you see any bugs? What's your favourite flower or plant?
Every walk is different and your list can change each time to keep it engaging. Here's a few favourites from Eduzone to use along your journey:
